Water lingering in washing machine
I have a 13 year old GE washer. When I jiggle the agitator around a bit I hear water sloshing around below. No water is seen in the basket, it seems like not all the water is being pumped out of the tub. Not a huge deal seemingly, but is this something to address? It gets used at least every 2 days, so the water will not usually have... more »

When eye, ear protection is not enough
"Dubois attached an electrical clamp to one nipple while another student attached another clamp to the other. A third student plugged in the cord. "Dubois was critically injured and his legal team claim he has suffered permanent brain damage." With pic of sexual pervert: [link]... more »

Insect Schadenfreude
"The man was summoned by his wife to deal with a spider ... Not being able to reach it, the man decided to kill it by spraying it with the can. "However he was unable to see whether it was dead ... At this point he turned to a cigarette lighter to illuminate the room, but in the process ignited the gas fumes and caused an explosion.... more »

The Home Despot takes a turn for the worse.
I'm in HD's home town and have watched them for quite some time. I've noticed that HD is going through a new phase. They had been going through one of being more friendly but not any better otherwise. Now they seem indifferent, event resentful of taking time out to help customers. Department Managers would rather not be bothered, no one... more »

finishing a north-facing garage door
I've really learned a lot about wood finishes lately, in particular in restoring them. I thank all for comments. Sometimes I don't show the proper respect of following up until an issue is resolved, but I'll ask for your forgiveness in that I've never been in a usenet forum with this much traffic, and my newsreading is sporadic due to having work (Yay!).... more »

Weird stuff -- update -- (was Electronic Kenmore refrigerator not working, what does this sign mean)
Things are getting weirder and weirder. My original post is at the bottom. I have received the replacement relay and capacitor today. Installed them (it was a 2 minute job). Plugged in the fridge. The compressor happily started working normally, mildly vibrating and indicating in all respects that it is running fine.... more »

Edger battery
I have this trimmer/edger which here in the east is most likely going to be utilized for the Summer only. In the remaining 10 months, what happens by non usage with the rechargeable battery? The company says, run it down at least on a monthly basis, which I feel is ridiculous . Its one of those Li-Lon batteries..18volts Anyone here in a similar... more »

Origin of Home Depot
Yes, I know many, if not most of us are not fond of Home Despot for reasons not to go into here. But I ran across an interesting article about how the place got started -- a tribute to a smart, hardworking guy named Bernie Marcus, who founded the chain. Here's a review from the AARP Bulletin. ============================== ============================== ================... more »

Bad tires---front or back
Where should you put your worst tires? I say put them on the front. If you have a tire problem you can control a skid best if the problem is with the tire on the front. If the problem is on the rear the skid will be a lot harder to control. What do ya`ll think?
