GFI for a fuse box...
We have a 1969 Fuse box, using 12 gauge copper wire, 100 amp service. Long story short We were told by our home insurance and home inspection people that in Ontario (Canada), there are no concerns with inspected copper wired fuse boxes until they reach 50 years. So we are not rushing to replace this box. However I wanted to install GFI receptacles for outside,... more »

Property question
If I survey my property line and dig a ditch around my property up to that line, am I responsible for my neighbors land sliding into my ditch?

What is the purpose of the "lockout timer" in a home heater/ac system?
What does the lockout timer do on a 20-year-old Payne home gas-fired heating/ac burner? The technician came to see why the heat kept shutting off the pilot flame and he took the "lockout timer" with him after testing. This black plastic box had wires attached to it which he wired to the furnace with jumpers.... more »

O.T. WebTV
Does *anybody* know for sure if this entity is still doing business? I realize that it became MSN TV but I've done a search and the only live links are to references from 2007. I just want a firm yes or no so that I know if I can sell my FIL's unit. It's 4 yrs old, having bought it just before he... more »

Downspouts into 4" Drain Pipe
My first post to this group so please forgive me if this has been asked and answered. I plan on burying my downspouts and having them merge into one 4" drain pipe. The discharge will be at a nice point far from my house. The length will be about 200 ft from the first downspout to the discharge. There will be a total of 4 downspouts merging into the same... more »

Refrigerant pipe wrap
I want to cut some plugs to put under some flashings on a metal roof where the peaks and valleys are open. Then caulk the dickens out of them. Can I use some of that refrigerant pipe wrap? I've seen it on stuff that has been out in the weather for a long time, and it seems to be in decent shape.... more »

garage floor paint
My garage floor looks so bad, when the dog takes a dump in there, I have to look for it. I want to take a wire wheel and a chisel and take down some blobs of paint and concrete spatter that the genius who built the house left. I then want to paint it. I know there are epoxies and stuff with sprinkles.... more »

Dangers of using websites to send articles or pics or anything.
...When you use the built-in service of tinypic or a a news website or any other website to send emails to friends, I believe the website keeps those email addresses to advertise themselves and even maybe to sell to spammers. After all, they are providing a free service and need to make money somehow. But be aware you are giving out your... more »
